Founded in 2004, the La Gacilly Photo Festival invites you on an immersive photographic experience as you stroll around 20 or so open-air galleries presenting the very best in contemporary photographic creation that questions our world and environment.
Photographs adorn the streets, gardens and alleys of La Gacilly, whose outstanding built and natural heritage provides a perfect backdrop to the thousand or so images on display. Public space becomes a stage, shared and open to all, free of charge.
Every summer, from June to October, some 300,000 people come to the La Gacilly Photo Festival with family or friends, as newcomers or devoted regulars, to enjoy large-format, open-air exhibitions of some of the greatest names and emerging talents in photography.
The festival is supported by an association under the 1901 law and develops more particularly 2 themes : one, geographic, which focuses on contemporary creation specific to a country or a continent (2020: Latin America, 2019: Countries of the East, 2017: Sub-Saharan Africa, 2016: Japan, 2015: Italy…), and the other, environmental, which zooms on a problem linked the to protection of Nature (2019: global warming, 2018: the oceans, 2017: the human-animal relationship, 2016: feeding the planet…).
